Caspar Reappears – 2010 Tour of Oman Stage 1
Jimmy Casper (Saur – Sojasun) took yesterday's Stage 1 of the inaugural six-stage Tour of Oman ahead of Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky Pro Cycling Team) and Kenny Dehaes (Omega Pharma-Lotto).
For the 31-year-old Frenchman, it has been a long road back into the spotlight. Twice the recipient of the lanterne rouge, the designation given to the final finisher at the Tour de France, Caspar has faced suspension, acquittal, and reinstatement since winning Stage 1 of the 2006 Tour de France. He would win 7 stages in various races last year, but his victory in the 61km opener at Oman was certainly historic in more ways than one.
