Team Hotel San José Gains New Sponsor

Austin, Texas – Team Hotel San José/Mellow Johnny's Presented by Subaru-Gary Fisher is getting a big boost thanks to a new multi-year sponsorship deal with solar energy power giant, juwi solar Inc.

juwi solar Inc. (JSI), based in Boulder, Colorado, is a developer and turn-key engineering, procurement and construction contractor of solar power plants throughout North America. JSI developed and is currently building the 16MW Blue Wing Solar project in San Antonio, which when completed will be the largest solar energy project in Texas. The majority shareholder of JSI is juwi Holding AG, which ranks among Europe’s leading renewable energy companies.

“This terrific partnership will allow us to co-title sponsor our team in Boulder, as well as develop promising young riders from a global perspective by bringing together up-and-coming talent from Germany and the U.S.,” Team Hotel San José Team Owner and Manager Barry Lee said. “They’ve also signed on to sponsor our Under 23 programs, which are so important to ensure the future growth of the sport of cycling.”

The juwi group has a history of promoting cycling and the healthy lifestyle associated with the sport, including by sponsoring former professional cyclist Udo Bölts, who raced and finished the Tour de France twelve consecutive times. The juwi logo will be featured on the team’s Under 23 jerseys, along with that of another new sponsor, Austin Subaru and current Team Hotel San José/Mellow Johnny's Presented by Subaru-Gary Fisher elite team sponsors RGM Advisors, LLC, and Reed & Scardino LLP.

The new jerseys will be sold to raise money to fund the Under 23 team’s trips to the national championships, the Tour de l'Abitibi in Canada, the International Cycling Classic and the Univest Grand Prix.

“We’re also looking to send two Under 23 racers to support Heath Blackgrove when he defends his Tour of Southland title in New Zealand later this year,” Lee said. “This is what we hope will be the start of a cycle of kids from New Zealand competing in races in the U.S. The plan would be to eventually take more and more kids to spend more time racing in New Zealand and Australia, countries where our team has strong ties to cycling programs.”
