Linden, NJ - Colavita/Forno D'Asolo Pro Cycling Team has signed current World Champion Giorgia Bronzini of Italy for 2011. John A. Profaci, Vice President of Marketing for co-title sponsor Colavita USA, made the announcement.
"On behalf of Colavita, we are very excited to announce that Italian cyclist and World Champion Giorgia Bronzini has agreed to ride with us in 2011," Profaci said. "This is the type of news that boosts any program's credibility and fuels its continuance by pleasing valuable sponsors and fans."
Bronzini won the International Cycling Union (UCI) Women's Elite Road World Championships on October 2 in Melbourne, Australia. She is a renowned world-class track sprinter having captured a Junior Worlds title in the points race in 2001 and secured multiple elite World Cup titles in the points race in 2009-2010. Bronzini also has a long-standing relationship with Colavita/Forno D’Asolo’s co-directeur sportif Franco Chirio having raced with his former squad USC Chirio Forno D'Asolo in 2005.
"Giorgia has already proven herself to be a great rider with countless victories including a world championship title on the track," said Rachel Heal, co-directeur sportif. "She has a huge wealth of experience to help guide the team and lead the younger riders. And having the world champion on board will motivate the entire team to raise their game."
Colavita USA, the US distribution arm of Italy-based olive oil producer Colavita SpA and Treviso-based croissant maker Forno D'Asolo SpA are authentic Italian food companies that have partnered to form the Colavita/Forno D'Asolo Pro Cycling Team.
"Having Giorgia with us is especially exciting from a marketing standpoint for Italy-based co-title brands Colavita and Forno D'Asolo. Our consumers in the US and Italy will surely be following Giorgia's 2011 racing activity, especially with her World Champion title," Profaci said. The Colavita/Forno D'Asolo Pro Cycling Team will announce a full roster and international racing schedule in the near future.
