Mumbai, India - Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm was today appointed as official technology partner to the pro cycling team, Team Garmin-Cervélo, for the 2011 racing season.
Team Garmin-Cervélo is a top ranked powerhouse in professional cycling with 39 male and female riders from Europe, North America and Australia. The team is dedicated to ethical sport and developing the next generation of cycling champions. The team comprises world champions Thor Hushovd and Emma Pooley, sprint sensation Tyler Farrar, Ryder Hesjedal and Tour de France veteran Christian Vande Velde. The team also boasts several current and former national champions including Murilo Fischer, Cameron Meyer, Jack Bobridge and Alexis Rhodes.
TCS will put in place an expert team to work with Team Garmin-Cervélo and determine how technology can be better leveraged to enhance the performance of the team, working hand-in-hand with the team’s internal Sport Science group. “We are always looking for partners who share our commitment to using the best innovations in technology to ethically enhance performance. TCS previously served as the technology partner to the Cervélo Test Team (CTT) during the 2010. This announcement marks a continued focus by the company in its global sports marketing campaign to promote wellness through sports. TCS' significant portfolio of sports partnerships includes tie-ups with Formula 1 racing team Ferrari and several marathons in major cities worldwide including Boston, Chicago, Mumbai and New York.
