USA Cycling National Championships Up Next for Primal/MapMyRIDE Pro Women’s Team
First-year team preparing for inaugural showing at Georgia race
Denver - The Primal/MapMyRIDE Professional Women's Racing Team powered by BH Bikes travels to Augusta, GA this week for its first-ever USA Cycling National Championships. The team, created in November 2010, will field five riders to vie for national titles in the road race, time trial and criterium.
"The ladies head to Georgia riding as strong as I've seen yet this season," said Team Director Susannah Gordon. "The National Championships will be a great challenge for our young team and I expect we'll continue to turn a few heads with our performance."
Casey Clark, Nicole Evans, Emily Kachorek (above), Tiffany Pezzulo and Nicky Wangsgard will represent Primal/MapMyRIDE in various races throughout the five-day event. All five riders will compete in the road race, with only Kachorek racing in all three events. Evans will also compete in the time trial, while Clark, Pezzulo and Wangsgard will race in the criterium.
Pezzulo enters the event following a pair of podium finishes - including a win - at the Saint Francis Tulsa Tough earlier this month.
Entering the event, the team sits in fourth place in the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar standings and Kachorek in the top-20 overall in the women's individual standings.
The eight member women's team aims to support professional women's cycling and create an avenue for better feedback on the development of women's specific technologies. BH Bikes is sponsoring the team with its women's specific Cristal road bike, a top-level road bike with geometry and sizing based on the company's European design experience, input from high-end bicycle retailers and fitters, and customer feedback. Team members also use SIDI's women's specific Genius 6.6 shoes, clothing from Primal's women's line, and will be involved in future product development with all of the team's sponsors.
Additional support of Primal/MapMyRIDE is provided by FSA, Nique, McDonald Audi, Retül, Reynolds, Smith Optics, and Vittoria as second tier sponsors. Third tier sponsors are Breeze Bars, Enzo's Cycling Products, Giro, OS Performance, Lizards Skins and Treads.com.
Over the course of the training season, team members will also be using the iMapMyRIDE smartphone application which tracks and broadcasts speed, distance, and heart rate to the team's group page on mapmyride.com and the team's home page. Cycling fans and potential racers will be able to learn from team members' training regimes by monitoring that data, reading team members' blog posts and interacting with them by using the site's social media tools.
