Peanut Butter & Co.TWENTY12 Defends San Rafael Twilight Title; Neimanas Medals at UCI Para-Cycling World Cup
Coryn Rivera rockets to the win at the 13th Annual San Rafael Twilight
A balmy summer evening in Marin County, CA converts into a raging race party downtown San Rafael. The Peanut Butter & Co.TWENTY12 squad except nothing less than a win at Ryan Dawkins' Project Sport events. The stage was set, DJ throwing down Adele's 'Rolling in the deep' mixed with Martin Solveig's 'Hello' and Rhianna mash ups, enthusiastic crowds, VIP tent in full swing and a fun challenging course.
Vanderkitten/Focus, Red Racing, Webcor, TIBCO, Now MS and Metromint were among the starters. Peanut Butter & Co.TWENTY12 pulled out their leftover 4th July fireworks and ignited them on the first lap! Tayler Wiles wound it up and strung out the field, setting it up for Alison Starnes attack. This was the theme of the race, take control set up a solo win or field sprint.
Current National Swiss road and time trial champion Pascale Schneider put in an amazing effort to cover most of the moves. Olivia Dillon patrolled the front ready to chew the legs off of anyone that tried to escape. The crowds were amazing as the laps counted down. The race was coming down to a sprint, Starnes and Wiles kept the last 2 laps fast, Schneider tried to get away with a solid effort. Dillon moved Rivera up and then Wiles took over taking her through the last third of the course and through the final turn where they already had a good gap. Coryn Rivera unleashed an incredible sprint to take the win easily from Martina Patella (Red Racing) and Mary Ellen Ash (Metromint) This is the fifth year in a row Peanut Butter & Co.TWENTY12 (Formerly PROMAN) has taken The San Rafael Twilight.
"As a team, Tayler, Ali, Olivia, and myself put on a perfect show. We stuck to the game plan and attack after attack after attack to the bunch sprint we could hear the crowds roar” stated Rivera, “But the show would not have been possible without the stage. Huge thanks to Ryan Dawkins and Project Sport for putting on world-class events for world-class athletes! San Rafael Twilight is definitely the most fun race of the year”
Greta Neimanas scores a gold and silver at UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup in Baie-Comeau, Canada
Meanwhile in Canada, Greta Neimanas rode a fast time trial by a convincing margin to take the top prize in the UCI Para-Cycling World Cup. The next day she secured a silver medal in the road race despite suffering a broken collarbone in a riding accident just a few weeks ago. “I'd like to thank Felt Bicycles, SRAM, Zipp, Pearl Izumi, Catlike and Oakley for the best equipment on earth. This weekend's gold and silver medals at the UCI Para-cycling World Cup in Baie-Comeau, Canada would not have been possible without them all!”
