Paying It Forward

The Triple Crankset is basically a non-profit site; choosing instead to give back to cycling in a manner by which we see fit. As such, we donate the bulk of our advertising dollars to help support some of the women and junior cyclists we cover.

In 2009 and early in 2010, donations made by companies such as Trek Travel Bike Tours and the producers of Alex Stieda's The Smooth Ride were re-directed toward Amber Rais’ dream to compete at the 2010 USA Cycling Elite National Championships, and to our own resident Sport Psychologist, Kristin Keim, to support her academic efforts.

To most it may not sound like good business, but then again, when has investing in people ever been a bad thing to do.

Thanks to you, I have the opportunity to race the National Championships in my home country this year. It is difficult to put into words just how much this means to me, how humbled and moved I have been by the overwhelming support. I am truly, deeply grateful. Thank you. Tonight I will race the Criterium National Championship race, and on Sunday will race the National Championship Road Race. It's tough to be racing solo and without the support of a team, but knowing you are behind me makes all the difference in the world. You can't win a bike race if you don't even show up to the race. You got me here, and I promise you, I will race with everything I have, on all the strength and inspiration your support and encouragement have helped instill in me. With gratitude, Amber.

What Others Are Saying About The Triple Crankset

"I love the blog’s name...it’s also an appropriate moniker for middle-age cyclists, who I suspect use that third chainring occasionally!" ~ Steve Outing

"It covers a wide spectrum of cycling issues: European and domestic racing, as well as some of the history and tradition of the sport. Very well-written and presented." ~ Sean Weide

"Lately I've been enjoying the collaborative cycling blog Triple Crankset, run in part by former Chicagoan Leonard Basobas. As someone who admittedly doesn't follow the NRC much except for when it's racing nearby, this fans' point of view is useful for staying abreast of the various personalities and storylines." ~ Luke Seemann - Chicago Bike Racing

"I really like your blog, going to have to add it to my daily websites." ~ Liz Hatch

"The blog site you have is very cool." ~ Heather Mastrianni

"Triple Crankset is a site I have to sink my teeth into on a daily basis!" ~ Kris Keim
